Bedford Bearcats Varsity ran off with the lead late in the game in a 14-13 victory over Maple Heights on Wednesday. The game was tied at 13 with Bedford Bearcats Varsity batting in the top of the fifth when Bedford Bearcats Varsity scored one run on a stolen base.

Bedford Bearcats Varsity built an eight-run lead in the first inning and then held off Maple Heights’s charge.

Bedford Bearcats Varsity got on the board in the first inning. Bedford Bearcats Varsity scored on a stolen base during Marisa Zenda’s at bat. Then Zenda singled.

Maple Heights evened things up at 13 in the bottom of the third inning when Steel singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Mya Thomas was the winning pitcher for Bedford Bearcats Varsity. She surrendered 13 runs on five hits over two and a third innings, striking out five. Olivia Pliske threw four and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Bedford Bearcats Varsity hit one home run on the day. Pliske had a homer in the first inning.

Zenda led Bedford Bearcats Varsity with three hits in four at bats.
